Sandwich Cutters

Filed Under (Bento Tools, Kids, Kitchen) by Jazzymom on 18-09-2009

Just found some of these cool sandwich cutters. For me, if I have to have only 1 tool to make bento, it is sandwich cutters. They can transform a simple boring sandwich to one fancy sandwich that will put a smile on the little one’s face.

Bento Tools: Sandwich/Egg Mold

Filed Under (Bento Tools, Kitchen) by Jazzymom on 04-04-2009

For this past year, I have been making bento lunch for my preschooler. I love making them but more importantly, my 3 year old loves them. She definitely enjoys her lunch much more now. Making bento is very easy if you have the right equipment. I will try to show some of those that I normally use.

One of my favorite are these Tovolo Ice Cream Sandwich Molds. They are originally intended for making ice-cream sandwiches but I have been using them to make regular sandwiches. They can also be used as an egg mold.

These are what my sandwiches look like when I use the pig mold. Aren’t they cute? If you have a little one at home and especially if they are picky eaters, do try these out. You might be surprised to see your little one gobbling up their food.

Princess Doll Cake

Filed Under (Food, Kitchen) by Jazzymom on 25-03-2009

Every year I make my daughter’s birthday cake. Last year she wanted a princess cake for her birthday and as an obliging mom, I made her one. Since I’ve never made one, I decided to use the Wilton Wonder Mold Kit. It was really easy making the cake using the mold. The only problem I faced was trying to decide how much cake dough it would take to fill the mold. Once I got it figured out, it was a piece of cake!

This was how the cake turned out. Cute, eh?

Pancake molds

Filed Under (Kitchen, Reviews) by Jazzymom on 18-03-2009

My little girl is a picky eater. In an effort to make her eat more, I try to make food attractive for her by cutting them into fancy shapes and present them in a pretty manner. I find that she eats more this way. The only problem with cutting food into fancy shapes is the remaining scraps that are leftover after cutting the shapes. Those scraps either end up in the garbage or in my tummy which is so bad for my diet!! :)

That’s why I love these pancake molds

Just place the mold on a pan, scoop some pancake mix into the mold, then as the pancake sets, remove the mold slowly and voila, a nice shape pancake without any scraps. The only problem I face is sometimes the batter will stick to the mold when removing but that can be easily solved by greasing the sides a little with butter before using.
